How to Make Parkour Gloves: 2 Methods You Can Try

Parkour enthusiasts debate whether or not people need gloves to do parkour. You may want mitts to protect your hands from rough surfaces. Parkour gloves can be expensive, however. Luckily, you can make your own pair of parkour gauntlets. There are two ways you can do this. One way is that you could use mittens you already own or purchase a cheap pair and modify them. The other way is making your own from scratch. Here’s how to make parkour gloves that are fingerless.

What You Need for Modification

  • A pair of regular gloves made from fabric (winter gloves, paintball gloves, etc., no latex or plastic gloves).
  • Scissors.
  • Lighter or fray check.

Instructions

This is how to make parkour gloves using gloves you already own. Make sure they are disposable and fit you.

Measure Glove Fingertips

Put on your gloves and measure where the middle joints on your fingers are. You can use a permanent marker to put a line or point on the glove. If the mittens are dark, then make small cuts on each finger.

Cut Off Glove Fingertips

Take off the gloves. Obtain the scissors and cut at the marked or slightly cut fingertips.

Melt the Tips

Turn on the lighter and heat the tips of the glove. This is to prevent the glove from unraveling. Don’t hold the fire too close for too long. Only until the tips begin to get blackened and hardened. If you happen to have any fray check, then apply to the edges. This is more recommended, as it is safer.

Test Out the Gloves

After the gloves cool, put them on. This will open up the holes that may have slightly melted closed while heating.

  • Fray Check.
  • Needle or sewing machine.

Instructions

Here’s how to make parkour gloves from the ground up. This can take some time but can be rewarding in the end.

Cover Your Gloved Hand in Tape

Put on your disposable glove and wrap it in tape. You may require assistance from someone else to do this. Do this on your non-dominant hand. Take off the gloves and cut off the fingertips. Put the gloves back on.

Trace Glove Patterns on Hands

Take the permanent marker and trace from the side of your hand under your pinkie to the end of the finger where the glove ends. Trace down to the other side of the pinkie and up to the ring finger. Do this until you get to the side of the forefinger. Draw another line next to this one. Do this with the other lines. Draw an oval around your thumb knuckle. Starting from that knuckle, draw a line straight up to the limit.

Cut at the Lines

Get your scissors and cut exactly where you traced. Mark each one, especially the pieces that go between the fingers.

Trace on Paper

Flatten the pieces on a sheet of paper. Take your pencil and trace the parts on paper. Here, you can obtain the proper measurements needed to cut the fabric. You could also cut out the paper pieces and lay it down on the fabric. When learning how to make parkour gloves, you must remember to mark individual pieces. This will help prevent confusion.

Cut the Fabric

If cutting your fabric without measurement, then pin the paper pieces to the fabric. Cut the pieces carefully. Mark these pieces. It’s important you only do one glove for now. You must test it later to see if it fits. You won’t want to waste any fabric.

Sew Fabric Pieces Together

Fold the larger piece inside-out. Do the same with the thumb piece and stitch it to the four-fingered piece. Don’t sew the larger piece together. Take the smaller cut pieces and stitch them between the four fingers. Finish up by sewing the side of the glove. Sew the edge of the entrance of the glove or administer Fray Check if it’s at risk of unraveling.

Test Out the Glove

Put on the glove to check the size. You may have to make it again. Once the glove is approved, make the other one.

What You Need to Add Grip

  • Liquid plastic glue.
  • Graduated syringe without the needle.
  • Pin, small needle, or similar tool.

  • EASY TO STORAGE: There is a plastic box coming with the glass head sewing pins, it is easy to carry and storage

Instructions

You can’t know how to make parkour gloves without adding grip. This is with the use of relatively affordable items.

Load the Syringe

Open the container of liquid plastic glue and fill your syringe. It’s recommended that you fill it one quarter to half of it. There’s no need to fill it completely.

Add Glue to Gloves

Put small globs of glue around the inside palm of the gloves. Take the pin and connect the dots with the globs. This will create a webbed pattern. Don’t cover the palms with too much glue. This will just make the gloves too soaked. Leave the mitts to dry.

Wrapping Up

Parkour gloves are needed for protection. They also help you grip particular surfaces more easily. Making parkour gloves can be easy with a regular pair of gloves. It could also be a fun activity if you’re starting from scratch. There are also full-fingered gloves, but fingerless gloves provide your hands with more freedom.

Don’t forget to add the grip. Without the grip, the gloves will be too slippery when you’re trying to grab objects.
And one more tip: If you find it too hard, you can always purchase your parkour gloves.
